Coverings 2023: Recap & Trends

Jun 13th, 2023

by Tile Wholesalers of Rochester

Dave, Conor, and Alissa had an incredible time at Coverings, the country's largest and most prominent yearly tile exhibition. More than 1,000 of the best tile and stone manufacturers from across the globe attended to show off their most innovative collections, so we're here to recap our findings and share which tile trends seem to be making the biggest splash in 2023.

Undulated Tile

Undulated refers to tile that has an ever-so-subtly uneven surface. These precise "imperfections" create a softly striking appeal and bring a quality of effortlessness to the design. While numerous manufacturers featured tile with this technique, the pictured selection above is part of the Casbah Collection from WOW Tile.

Large Format Porcelain

Another standout trend from the convention was large format porcelain, such as the sophisticated and dimensional examples pictured here. There’s nothing that leaves an impact quite like floor-to-ceiling tile, and the minimal number of grout joints contributes to creating a polished finish. For more examples of brilliant porcelain in large-format or mosaic styles, check out Artistic Tile’s top-notch offerings.

Bold Mosaics

Exhibits displaying bright and funky mosaics were plentiful, giving the classic tile interpretation a fresh and exciting spin. We particularly loved this arrangement from Marble System's Tessa Mosaic Collection, which burst off the walls with its playful patterns and warm-toned color scheme.

Terrazzo and Cobbled Tile

Terrazzo and cobbled tiles are aggregated styles that combine multiple small pieces of material to create eye-catching designs. Reminiscent of old-world artistry with hints of modern influence, these visually compelling tiles bring an abundance of charm and character to any space. Patterned Tile

Rounding out our trends recap is patterned tile, which resulted in significantly more enticing and vibrant exhibits. Colorful ceramics lined the walls of numerous displays this year, and for more selections like these, we recommend browsing Adex USA’s new Levante collection of captivating and unique glazed designs.
