the backbone of 50 years

In June, we celebrated 50 years of Tile Wholesalers. Throughout 2022, we?ve been sharing bits and pieces of what made these 50 years possible. As a locally owned business that is currently in its second generation of family ownership with the third generation posed to continue on the tradition, so much of what we do revolves around family. Over the past several months, we?ve loved sharing then & now posts, along with a?timeline?of what?s happened since we first opened our doors in 1972.?

We also talked about?Standing the Test of Time, and what that looks like from a small business perspective when many don?t get to see the 50-year mark. It?s an honor to be here serving our amazing community, but we couldn?t have gotten to this point without some very important people.

In any business, a strong team is the backbone of success. We pride ourselves on nurturing a family-like atmosphere here at Tile Wholesalers. In a recent video posted to?Instagram, owner Dave Firkins shares,

?The challenge of finding good people is finding the passion that lies within me, and when I look for somebody, I?m looking for a mirror image of what drives me to work every single day. When I interview people, I try to get that passion.?

Our team is passionate about tile, but more than that, we?re passionate about working with designers, architects, contractors, builders, and homeowners to help them discover the products that will make their spaces complete. We?re passionate about the manufacturers and reps we engage with who supply us with beautiful products that wow our customers. The company was started in Irondequoit in 1972, we moved in 1991 to a larger location in the City of Rochester but then returned again to Irondequoit to further expand our operation in 2004. We?re passionate about giving back to this community and the entire Monroe county.

And most of all, we?re passionate about coming to work every day, greeting each other with a smile, sharing in our successes and trials, and doing it all again the next day.

Our team is the reason we have seen this growth, from our showroom staff to our warehouse staff. As Dave says,?
